Excursion 03

Saturday, 5 May 2007

Dear colleagues,

Following our beginning of the session accesible outings, I propose this one which, although a bit lengthy, it is easy. Here is my proposal:

Date: Saturday, 5 May 2007
Site: Pointe de la Couennasse (1980 m)
Classification: Easy (One difficult pass)
Altitude: 1980 m
Climbing up distance: 692 m.
Climbing time: 3 hours.
Total hiking time: 5 hours.
Starting point: Praz de Lys - Les Molliettes (1495 m altitude).
Meeting point: CERN Main Cafeteria at 9.00 am.
Remarks: Panoramics
Access: The starting point is nearby "Taninges" and "Les Gets".Therefore, usual road D907 from Annemasse to Taninges. In Taninges take road to "Le Gets". When reaching "Le Pont de Gets" (8 Km from Taninges) turn left to "Praz de Lys" (6 Km). Cross the ski station and park near "Les Molliettes" in a quite obvious parking space. The trip from CERN to "Praz de Lys" may take 1h20.

In the URL http://excursiones.salicio.net you can find information on the outings.

It is convenient to emphasize some useful items: please do not forget to carry on (wear) raincoat, hat/cap and sun glasses, warm gloves, hiking boots or sport-footwear with thick and non-slipping sole, enough food and drinks for the own consumption. Spear dry clothes and after excursion confortable shoes are very convenient.

Have a lovely weekend! Cheers! Jose.
