Le Roc d'Enfer is a must for hikers. A rather long path goes along vertiginous sommets. It is adviceable to do it under good weather conditions. Here is my proposal for this coming weekend:
Date: | Saturday, 10 September 2005 |
Site: | Le Roc d'Enfer (2243m) |
Classification: | Difficult |
Altitude: | 2243m (highest point) |
Climbing up distance: | 925m |
Climbing time: | 3.30 hours |
Total hiking time: | 6.30 hours |
Starting point: | Le Foron (1320m) |
Meeting point: | CERN Cafeteria (Main building) at 8.30 am |
Remarks: | Vertiginous paths |
Access: | Take the Autoroute Blanche and get out at the high of Cluses. Take road D902 to Taninges. Continue along road D902 for about 3 km. Take road D328 to the left at the high of "Le Pont des Gets" in direction to Praz de Lys. Continue along road D328 for about 6 km passing by les Cotes, Bonnavaz, le Pesse. After 2 pronounced turns to the left and right we arrive to a road cross close to the site of Le Foron. Park any where there. The trip from CERN to Le Foron should take about 1h30 |

...and here to see the access map... if any .
It is convenient to emphasize some useful items: please do not forget to carry on (wear) raincoat, hat/cap and sun glasses, warm gloves, hiking boots or sport-footwear with thick and non-slipping sole, enough food and drinks for the own consumption. Spear dry clothes and after excursion confortable shoes are very convenient.
Have a lovely weekend! Cheers! Jose.
