This excursion, as the very first outing of the session is adequate for all non-competitive kind of persons. Kids with clever parents may also enjoy the path as it has many points of geological/educational entertainements. Being a half a day outing there is no need to bring lunch along but only enough drinks for the 4 hours long walk. Here is my proposal:

| Access: | From CERN taking motorway in direction of Chamonix/MontBlanc. Get out in the exit to Archamps. Turn right to Archamps village. Arriving to a turn around point take to the left towards Archamps village. Continue along the road and after passing below the motorway take to the right in direction to Collonges-sous-Saleve. After passing by the Open market loan take the first deviation to the right and continue all along for about 2 km untill you arrive to a crossing point where you are forced to take either to the right or to the left. Take to the left. Some 50 m after take the first road to the right that drives you to a parking place. Park there. Driving time from CERN: 30 minutes |

It is convenient to emphasize some useful items: please do not forget to carry on (wear) raincoat, hat/cap and sun glasses, warm gloves, hiking boots or sport-footwear with thick and non-slipping sole, enough food and drinks for the own consumption. Spear dry clothes and after excursion confortable shoes are very convenient.
