This weekend, weatherwise, is doubtful! however I make my proposal still under the aim of getting in shape for summer outings. I propose a very easy and medium altitude although lengthy excursion. It is close to the Grand Bornand. However I advise that you do not make plans for the early evening! Here is my proposal:
Date: | Sunday, 18 May 2003 |
Site: | Mont Lachat de Chatillon (2050 m) |
Classification: | Very easy but lengthy |
Altitude: | 2050 m (highest point) |
Climbing up distance: | 699 m |
Climbing time: | 3h |
Total hiking time: | 4h30 |
Starting point: | Parking de La Liaz - (1351m) |
Meeting point: | CERN cafeteria at 9 am |
Remarks: | Views over the Aravis and the Mont Blanc |
Access: | Autoroute Blanc. At the hight of Bonneville get out and take road to La Clusaz / Le Grand Bornand. Once in the center of Le Grand Bornand leave route D224 that would continue forming a very sharp angle to the left and continue straigt in direction to le Terret. Continue passing by Nant Robert and la Liaz. The parking is 500 m after la Liaz. Driving time from CERN: 1h30. |

It is convenient to emphasize some useful items: please do not forget to carry on (wear) raincoat, hat/cap and sun glasses, warm gloves, hiking boots or sport-footwear with thick and non-slipping sole, enough food and drinks for the own consumption. Spear dry clothes and after excursion confortable shoes are very convenient.
Have a lovely weekend! Cheers! Jose.
