After the previous two training outings my proposal for this weekend has slightly changed altitude and it is a bit lengthier. However it does not require any special technical skill. In following the second part, the way is a bit stepy and at the top slightly vertiginous. Here is my proposal:
Date: | Sunday, 30 June 2002 |
Site: | Lac de Peyre (2080m)- Pointe de Balafrasse (2296m) |
Classification: | Easy |
Altitude: | 2296 m (highest point) |
Vertical distance to climb: | 683 m |
Climbing time: | 2h20 |
Total hiking time (both ways): | 4h |
Starting point: | Col de la Colombiere (1613m) |
Remarks: | Panoramic, Bouquetins, Marmottes |
Access: | Motorway direction to Chamonix. Get out in Bonneville. Take route D12 to St. Jean-de-Sixt and then D4 to le Grand-Bornand. 5 km after we arrive to Le Chinaillon. Continue for about 4 km to arrive in "Col de la Colombiere". Park there. Driving time from CERN: 1h40 |
Meeting point: | CERN Cafeteria (Main building) at 9 am |

In the URL http://excursiones.salicio.com you can find information on the outings.
It is convenient to emphasize some useful items: please do not forget to carry on (wear) raincoat, hat/cap and sun glasses, warm globes, hiking boots or sport-footwear with thick and non-slipping sole, enough food and drinks for the own consumption. Spear dry clothes and after excursion confortable shoes are very convenient.
Have a lovely weekend!
Cheers!
Jose.
