Excursion 02

Sunday, 23 June 2002

Dear colleagues,

This second outing, similarly to the first one, does not require of any technical skill. It is again short and easy and in low altitude. It is part of the training to recuperate a reasonable physical shape before undertaking other adventures. Here is my proposal:

Date: Sunday, 23 June 2002
Site: Montagne de Sulens (1839)
Classification: Very easy
Altitude: 1839 m (highest point)
Vertical distance to climb: 570 m
Climbing time: 2h
Total hiking time (both ways): 3h30
Starting point: Manigod-Col de Plan Bois (1299m)
Remarks: 360 deg view over various mountain chains
Access: Motorway direction to Chamonix. Take out in Bonneville. Take route D12 to St. Jean-de-Sixt and then D909 to Thones. In Thones take route D12 and then D16 to Manigod. Continue and 1 km after Manigod take route to the right which drives to Le Col de Plan Bois passing by Plan-des- Berthats. Park nearby the Restaurant-Bar of the Col. Driving time from CERN: 1h30
Meeting point: CERN Cafeteria (Main building) at 9 am

In the URL http://excursiones.salicio.com you can find information on the outings.

It is convenient to emphasize some useful items: please do not forget to carry on (wear) raincoat, hat/cap and sun glasses, warm globes, hiking boots or sport-footwear with thick and non-slipping sole, enough food and drinks for the own consumption. Spear dry clothes and after excursion confortable shoes are very convenient.

Have a lovely weekend!

Cheers!

Jose.
